CHAPTER ONE
An amazing experience
Trees are content with where they are. They do not concern themselves with advancing their status among other trees; they are in the forest together. It is not until knocked down by nature or man that they finally yield, otherwise holding boldly where they are, reaching higher and higher into the heavens. And they are happy with their fate.
Trees are born in spring, life’s infancy. Then are the happy days of summer, filled with promises. They grow old with beautiful colors, a testament to the wisdom of autumn, the sunset of life. Then it is the dark days of winter when it is death for us all. But the cycle continues. The sun rises again to spring and all is reborn to reach even higher than before.
O to be tree.

Late one night, as I walked across the railroad tracks on a dark lonely road, a tree spoke to me. I thought it was odd for a tree had never spoken to me before. Because of the special circumstances I listened closely to what the tree had to say.
“You are on a journey of discovery,” said the tree.
“But where am I to journey to?” I asked, “And what am I to discover?”
The tree never answered my questions. I don’t believe the tree was trying to be rude, rather I believe that the wisdom of the tree knew that I had it within me to answer these questions myself. That was the day I consciously began my Journey of Discovery.
