I consider myself an artist in the crudest sense. My medium is magic, and my frame is composed of music and comedy. I have been practicing magic for over twenty years, sharing my life story with those as close to home as New England, and as far as Las Vegas.
I strongly believe that hope, love, and honesty can create harmony in the world. Having fulfilled the dream of performing at the New England Patriots Post-Super Bowl Party in Scottsdale, AZ in 2008, I’ve never turned away from this philosophy. I still perform magic and play music regularly. It’s a passion that I cannot release, for it surmounts any material desires that I could have. Comedy magic and music makes me who I am, Jonas Cain.
I studied music at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Westfield State College – an unexpected start. I have used those skills to compile four albums and expand my magic career to heights I had never imagined.
I attended a Masters Class at the famous McBride Magic and Mystery School in Las Vegas, NV in 2010, one of the premier magic schools.
In 2007, my life changed radically. After a personal family loss, I questioned my life and my work. I grew lax in my self-discipline and lost sense of my version of reality at the time.
I realized from the beginning that one of the purposes of my work has been to make people laugh and smile; when my audience laughs and smiles I too laugh and smile. Yet now I realize that my responsibilities go beyond just that. Like all those who experience tragedy I’m full of emotions and the questions they inspire. My performances serve as a medium to share those emotions and the resulting discoveries with the world.”
Inspired by this realization, I quickly began working on a script for a different kind of magic show. To label it as simply a magic show would be incorrect, for as some critics have said “it is more appropriately called a life show; an experience unlike anything ever before seen.”
The production, a magical play entitled It Just Happened the Other Day: A True Story, premiered in the fall of 2008 at City Stage in Springfield, MA. Since the premier I have begun pursuing a career as an inspirational speaker. My career will kick off with the publishing of my first book, It Just Happened the Other Day: A True Story, the companion book to the theatrical production.
I am a resident magician at the Basketball Hall of Fame’s Samuel’s Sports Bar in downtown Springfield, MA.
I got where I am not by simply hoping, but by creating my own reality and never giving up.
I am Jonas Cain.
